Why the ACA matters

Before the Affordable Care Act became law in 2010, I was stuck. I was 23 years old when my two-year-old child was diagnosed with a pre-existing condition, and suddenly my job wasn’t just a paycheck — it was the only way to keep my family insured. The ACA changed everything. It ensured my child couldn’t be denied coverage, and it let me keep my children on my insurance until they turned 26. For my family, that law wasn’t politics. It was protection.

A campaign volunteer

I decided to volunteer for Hugh’s campaign because I believe he truly cares about the people in our community. When Hugh talks about affordability and healthcare, it’s obvious he understands what families are up against — and he wants to help.

On public education

I support Hugh because he believes in the power of public education to give our young folks a strong foundation for their future, and our future.

On the trades

I love that Hugh attended vo-tech and has personal experience learning a trade — the trade that launched his career as an arborist.

On leadership

What I respect most about Hugh is that he’s focused on real solutions, not partisan politics. He listens, he stays calm under pressure, and he’s especially strong at resolving conflict. That kind of leadership is exactly what we need in Harrisburg.

Healthcare shouldn’t be something families worry about every day. Hugh understands that affordability and access matter — and that healthcare decisions belong between families and their doctors, not politicians.

As a Navy and National Guard veteran, Hugh understands service isn’t something you talk about — it’s something you live. He’s spent his life serving others, and that’s exactly why I trust him to serve District 98.

On conservation

After a lifetime working with trees and the environment, Hugh understands conservation from experience — not theory. He believes we can protect our natural resources while supporting agriculture and local business.

A neighbor first

What impresses me most is that Hugh listens. He wants to hear from everyone, whether they agree with him or not. Politics needs more neighbors and fewer politicians — and Hugh has always been a neighbor first.
